Alpha Anesthesia for Oral Surgeons

The practicing Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon has the basic skills already.  If your residency was 5,10, or 20 years ago, your airway skills are lost.  This training will build on your airway management skills by having you place and hold a facemask, ventilate an apneic patient, place airway adjuncts, place laryngeal mask airways, and intubate live patients.  You will continue to learn more about vital signs monitoring.  Use of the infusion pump to administer midazolam, remifentanil, or propofol/ remifentanil will be integrated into your technique for moderate/ deep sedation.

  • Learn how to utilize an infusion pump
  • Learn how to safely use and maximize the benefits of remifentanil for sedation and anesthesia.
  • Learn how to utilize a LMA for airway management for your cases
  • Review sedation and anesthetic related emergencies on the SimMan™ simulator.
  • Refine and improve all of your techniques skills
