Emergency Training That Makes Sense

Do you feel like you have sedation under control? Are you ready for any incident that could potentially happen in your office? There are a lot of doctors that we have trained here at Alpha Anesthesia that felt like they already had it down and some of them really did know their stuff.

Advanced Anesthesia Training

Our courses are tailored to both general practitioners and oral surgeons that are or desire to provide IV sedation. Periodontists and endodontists however, have also benefited from these courses.

Deepen Your Understanding of Vital Signs

We find that doctors providing sedation in their offices do not have a good understanding of managing an airway and are actually putting most of their patients at risk! Click here for a pop quiz and find out if you have what it takes to be the Alpha.

Anesthesia Training For Your Dental Staff

We encourage you to bring the whole team. Not only do you have to learn the best techniques for sedating your patients, but you need a team that knows your every move, before you make it.

ALPHA ANESTHESIA SEMINARS™

The Alpha

You will be learning from a mentor who has trained hundreds of doctors and staff since 1995.

Dr. H. William Gottschalk

Bill began his higher education studying biology at the University of Southern California, after which he received early admission to the University of Maryland School of Dentistry – the first dental school in the world. From there Dr. G completed two residencies: The first was a general practice-hospital practice residency at LA County / USC Medical Center and then he completed an anesthesiology residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to 32 years of practicing general dentistry, Dr. Gottschalk has also been a member of the clinical faculty at the USC School of Dentistry.  He has written journal articles, lectured nationally on anesthesia, and contributed entire chapters to anesthesia textbooks. Dr. Gottschalk doesn’t just teach, he also practices.  Dr. G believes that learning from an experienced mentor in a live patient setting is far superior to learning simply on your own.

Our Feedback

The comments below are just a sample of the reviews we’ve gotten over the past ten years offering our curriculum.

“Albert Einstein once said, “the sign of a true genius is the ability to make the complex simple.” That is what Bill did for me. He takes the complex and allows you to use that information first thing on Monday morning. Right from the start, he makes it apparent that you don’t know what you don’t know, but he gives you and your staff the confidence to rise above the rest.”

Kenneth Polke, DDS

American Dental Excellence

“I am a dentist anesthesiologist who has had the good fortune to be able to work alongside Dr. Bill Gottschalk for more than 25 years teaching intravenous moderate sedation courses. I have seen Bill working in both the clinical and didactic environments during these intensive programs and I will say in all honesty that Dr. Gottschalk is a master at what he does. If you have an opportunity to enroll in one of his advanced IV sedation programs, I would encourage you to do so. The clinical experience alone is invaluable.”

Dr. Stan Malamed

Author of Sedation – A Guide to Patient Management

“I was drawn to Bill’s course because I could tell he is a dedicated teacher and lifelong learner. He gets the latest gadgets and is always up to date on pharmaceuticals both new and old. Even though he has been in practice for over 30 years he stays on the cutting edge of his specialty. That level of excitement is contagious.”

Solomon Poyourow, D.D.S., M.D., M.P.H.

Diplomate, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

“If you are interested in a truly challenging, “eye opening”, opportunity to learn from exceptional Doctors sharing a variety of advanced anesthesia techniques, this course is for you! It changed the manner in which I practice IV sedation in my office. The knowledge and experience gained is by far an exceptional value and exceeded my expectations!”

David Backus, R.Ph., DDS

Great Lakes Anesthesia for Dentistry

“I am a physician anesthesiologist and member of the ASA and ADSA. I wish to compliment you on your excellent Intro to Capnography video. I consider it one of the best of its kind in explaining the value of ETCO2 measurements in sedated patients.”

John Vondrell, M.D.

Anesthesiologist

“The hands on advanced sedation training with Dr. Gottschalk was well worth it. It gave me a greater understanding of the range of effects of the drugs we use every day, and the confidence to successfully use the ones we hopefully never have to. We go way past moderate sedation into full GA with him, so we are more able to recognize if we were to go past moderate on our own, and how to manage it if we do. I learned things from simple techniques to smooth out sedations with less drugs, to painless IV placement. I really valued the one on one, hands on approach. And the fact that we could see our own patients in our own office, with our own equipment was invaluable. I recommend this course to anyone that offers IV sedation in their practice.”

Adam Jensen, DMD

Midtown Dental Center

“If you are looking for a comprehensive approach to dental anesthesia, this is the course to take! Dr. Bill Gottschalk’s combination of didactic and hands-on approach truly allows the sedation dentist to further advance their skills through real-time experience. The training I received has definitely changed the nature in which I practice IV sedation. I highly recommend this course.”
