This course is the foundation for understanding anesthesiology and obtaining the
skills necessary to circumvent avoidable emergencies or disasters

This 5-day course is for practitioners who don’t do any form of sedation, utilize oral sedation, or provide conscious IV sedation. The foundation for managing any emergency is knowing how to manage an airway and recognizing the signs of an impending problem. The goal is to build your airway management

skills by learning to place and hold a facemask, place airway adjuncts, and ventilate an apneic patient. The more seasoned doctors will also be able to place laryngeal mask airways. These skills will be practiced on manikins and then on live patients.

2 1/2-Day Course

  • Training opportunities include practice performing IM, sub-Q, and IV injections
  • Understand the vital signs monitor and make sense of the sequence of dealing with an emergency
  • A full day is devoted to lectures on managing medical emergencies and a comprehensive review of CPR
  • There will be 20 hours of continuing education credits
  • Scheduled yearly based on demand

True Genius

Albert Einstein once said, “the sign of a true genius is the ability to make the complex simple.” That is what Bill did for me. He takes the complex and allows you to use that information first thing on Monday morning. Right from the start, he makes it apparent that you don’t know what you don’t know, but he gives you and your staff the confidence to rise above the rest.

Contagious Excitement

I was drawn to Bill’s course because I could tell he is a dedicated teacher and lifelong learner. He gets the latest gadgets and is always up to date on pharmaceuticals both new and old. Even though he has been in practice for over 30 years he stays on the cutting edge of his specialty. That level of excitement is contagious.

Take Home Lesson

I was sedating a high fear patient. I was able to get to that sweet spot where he was comfortable, eyes closed, good respiration, heart rate, and BP. There was no way I could have done the case smoothly with my old technique. Thank you for giving me invaluable tools, tips and tricks. Without the knowledge you have given me I would not be able to practice at such a high standard. I appreciate everything you have done and continue to do for me. You are a great mentor to me.

Hands-On

If you are looking for a comprehensive approach to dental anesthesia, this is the course to take! Dr. Bill Gottschalk’s combination of didactic and hands-on approach truly allows the sedation dentist to further advance their skills through real-time experience. The training I received has definitely changed the nature in which I practice IV sedation. I highly recommend this course.
